First images of the horse on fire, burning on the mountain. More then 1000 people watching under a clear sky with many many stars. It went fairly quick this year. The burning took only about 7 minutes. Nobody was hurt in the fire.
The construction is finished and all the details of the wooden horse are done. Now it is time to transport to statue to the top of the mountain. This means partly dismantling it where is was build, putting all pieces on a truck, transport and putting all together again. It took some time (about 4 hours!) but the horse is on the mountain. Ready to be lit as soon at is dark.
Pictures of the burning of the statue will follow tomorrow.
Tasteful food, beautiful people, music and poetry reading. A small impression of todays big lunch.
Next.. Putting the horse on the truck to move it up the mountain..
This morning, when it was still dark, the fire was lit to roast the suckling pigs. Also preparation are on the way for the big lunch today, 70 or more guests are attending!
We wanted some branches of a juniper tree to go in the horse, for when it burns tomorrow night. A farmer in the neighborhood offered that we could use the tree in his garden. It was blocking his view anyway, he said. We could take the branches that we could use, and cut the rest of the tree. The farmer took the tree to the top of the mountain where the party will take place tomorrow and put it with the rest of the wood to burn.
The branches were taken to the building site to be cut in smaller pieces to put in the horse. The effect of these branches will be a lot of smoke and a nice sweet smell. We will enjoy the effect tomorrow.
